Prayer Dance for Fires and Waters Sponsored by Otter Dance
December 31, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - January 1, 2018 @ 12:00 pm$80.00
To Dance is to pray.
All of us have been witness to and many of us have been directly affected by, the power that is Mother Earth. From the fires that have destroyed thousands of acres to the overabundance of waters created by the many hurricanes this past year. We are all being pulled into the great need to shift things so that Mother Earth can breathe easy once again. Last year, this ceremony focused on our Water Protectors. This year our ceremony will focus on BALANCE…the balance between Fire and Water and honoring how they influence and impact our lives every day. Shifting our humanistic instinct of fear to embracing the purification that happens when both elements emerge. To truly understand Fire and Water is to know that they are only doing what they know to do.
It is with an open heart of compassion, healing, and love that we take the time to honor Mother Earth to healing herself. As we come together at the end of the year for the Prayer Dance, we bring into the arbor the balancing energies of Fire and Water…and we take a deeper look at how we have helped create this imbalance within ourselves and on the planet. As we dance and pray, our higher vibration will expand to touching the lives of our community, families, countries abroad, and the world. We will begin to heal that which is wounded inside and flow outward to Mother Earth. This vibration is like the ripple effect that continues past our own community out to the world.
We are calling ALL Dancers, Drummers, Fire Keepers, Water Keepers, and Supporters to join us for a time of prayer and healing. We will dance to the Drum and sing the songs of our ancestors, of healing and of peace.
Jamie Holmes-Allen and Sara Eshe Zuri (Sarita) will be co-chiefing this Prayer Dance; holding the space for all of us to pray and honor the balance and healing to be brought back into our lives. We will create this ceremony together in community as we are guided by Spirit. A Sweat Lodge Ceremony focusing on balance will be poured by Chief Jamie Holmes-Allen and followed by the Prayer Dance. The Sweat Lodge Ceremony leading us to the Prayer Dance will begin at 12:00pm on 31 December 2017 and ends at 12:00 pm on 1 January 2018. The Prayer Dance will conclude with a Pipe Ceremony led by Chief Robbie Warren. It is an open dance where one can come and go as needed. We will like to do a ceremonial round honoring the people and ancestors of all of the countries around the globe that affected by a Hurricane, Water flooding, Fires, or all. If you feel called to dance with a flag representing the people of that nation, please feel free to bring it with you.
This Prayer Dance is fluid and fun, therefore you can drum, dance, sit with Spirit Fire, meditate with the Water or be in silent meditation. Please bring your drums, rattles and medicine tools.
We ask that you please bring your own food for Saturday lunch and dinner. Sunday breakfast will be provided by the Chiefs. Please bring a dish to share for the feast on Sunday after the Dance.
A suggested donation for the Prayer Dance is $80.00. Any monetary profits, following the payments for the use of Sacred Grove Retreat, supplies and firewood will be directly donated to two members in our community. Diving equally half of the portion for someone that has been affected by the Fires and the other to someone affected by Water. Beds are available and we will reserve beds for the Elders first, and then on a first come basis after that.
To coordinate and reserve your sleeping accomodations, please contact our Prayer Dance Fairy (Coordinator) Keli Semelsberge at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With Love and much Gratitude
